Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2005 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ignition switch ACC/RUN circuit sends 12 volts through circuit 75 (DG/LG) on the central junction box (CJB) input side fuse 15 (5A), and circuit 295 (LB/PK) on the CJB output side fuse 15 (5A) to the instrument cluster. The ignition switch RUN/START circuit sends 12 volts through circuit 16 (RD/LG) on the CJB input side fuse 21 (5A), and circuit 489 (PK/BK) on the CJB output side fuse 21 (5A) to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster monitors the output voltage from the ignition circuit and if an open circuit is detected, DTC B1360 is set.
