Removal and Installation

  1. Release the tension on the parking brake cable. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE CABLE TENSION RELEASE .
  2. Remove the screws and the instrument panel steering column cover.
  3. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  4. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the bulkhead connector.
    • To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  5. Release the parking brake release handle grommet from the bracket.
  6. Disconnect the parking brake switch electrical connector.
  7. Remove the wiring harness bracket screw and position the harness and bracket aside.

  8. Remove the 3 bolts from the parking brake control.
    • To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  9. Position the carpet aside and position the cable conduit grommet up through the floor.
  10. Remove the parking brake control from the vehicle.
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Test the parking brake system for correct operation.
