Exhaust Manifold - LH: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the LH fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
    3. CAUTION: Do not allow the lower steering column shaft to rotate while it is disconnected from the gear or damage to the clockspring can occur. If there is evidence that the lower steering column shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  3. Remove the lower steering column shaft pinch bolt. Position the lower steering column shaft aside.
  4. Remove the 4 RH and LH Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold flange nuts and detach the Y-pipe from the manifold.
  5. Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
  6. Remove the 8 nuts, the exhaust manifold and the gaskets.
    • Discard the gaskets.
