Test Aa: Air Bag Warning Light Short To Battery (DTC B1870): Description
The AIR BAG warning light is designed to illuminate for 6 seconds when ignition switch is turned to RUN position. The initial 6 seconds of illumination is considered normal operation of air bag system and is called prove out of AIR BAG warning light. AIR BAG warning light is then used to warn that there is fault in the air bag system by flashing a Light Flash Code (LFC).
Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors AIR BAG warning light circuit for short to battery at connector C2041A, terminal No. 20 (Black/Yellow wire, circuit No. 1083). If RCM detects a short to battery in circuit, it will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1870 in memory and, if other DTCs are present, send a signal to warning tone indicator to produce 5 sets of 5 tone bursts.
