Removal & Installation (4.6L)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Partially drain cooling system. Remove power steering reservoir bracket. Remove accelerator cable splash shield. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
  2. Disconnect fuel supply and return line connections at fuel supply manifold. Disconnect coolant inlet hose. Disconnect fuel injector and ignition coil wiring harness connectors. Remove coolant hose. Remove brake booster bracket and tube. Remove PCV hose.
  3. Remove EGR valve-to-exhaust manifold tube. Disconnect EGR valve and EGR transducer hoses. Disconnect Vapor Management Valve (VMV) hose. Remove fuel rail bolts. Remove fuel rail with injectors. Remove injectors by using a rocking motion. See Figure. To install, reverse removal procedure.
