Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.
  3. Remove the bolt and the ignition coil.
    • Remove the ignition coil. Use a twisting motion while pulling up on the ignition coil.
    • To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  4. NOTE: Verify that the ignition coil spring is correctly located inside the ignition coil boot and that there is no damage to the tip of the boot.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Apply a light coat of dielectric compound to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
