Removal & Installation (Escape)

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE & FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS . Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor, Idle Air Control (IAC) electrical connector, main engine control sensor wiring, and Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  2. Disconnect vacuum lines from brake boost and intake manifold. Disconnect Knock Sensor (KS) connector. Lower vehicle. Remove generator, and set aside. Remove intake manifold.
  3. To install, clean gasket mating surfaces. Position NEW gasket on intake manifold. Install and tighten bolts/nuts in proper sequence to specification. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
