Test P: Speedometer Inaccurate
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) or Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS/WDS tester, monitor PCM PID VSS(+). Start vehicle. Test drive vehicle and compare PID value on NGS/WDS tester to speedometer. If speeds do not match, go to next step. If speeds match, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor harness connector C903 (C1899 on M/T). Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (White/Blue wire) at vehicle speed sensor harness connector. See Figure . If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster as necessary. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Blue wire between vehicle speed sensor and instrument cluster and/or short to ground in White/Violet wire between PCM and splice S60. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
