Test L: Low Coolant Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect low engine coolant level switch harness connector C812. Using a fused jumper wire, connect Black wire terminal and White/Green wire terminal at low engine coolant level switch harness connector C812. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates for 5 seconds or less, go to next step. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates for more than 5 seconds and coolant level is below switch in reservoir, replace low engine coolant level switch. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates for more than 5 seconds and coolant level is above switch in reservoir, lower engine coolant level and retest system.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at low engine coolant level switch harness connector C812. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
  3. Disconnect instrument interface module harness connector C440. Measure resistance in White/Green wire between terminal No. 12 at instrument interface module harness connector C440 and low engine coolant level switch harness connector C812. See Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Green wire.
  4. Using a fused jumper wire, ground terminal No. 13 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument interface module harness connector C440. If low engine coolant level indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates, replace instrument interface module.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Measure resistance in Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 13 at instrument interface module harness connector C440 and terminal No. 3 at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, check low engine coolant level indicator bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
