Test I: Brake Warning Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect brake fluid level sensor harness connector C810. Using a fused jumper wire, connect Black wire terminal and Black/Yellow wire terminal at brake fluid level sensor harness connector C810. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If brake warning light is not on, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If brake warning light is on, remove jumper wire. Check parking brake switch and adjust or replace as necessary. If parking brake switch is okay, repair open Black/Red wire between parking brake switch harness connector and splice S308. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal at brake fluid level sensor harness connector C810. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808B. Measure resistance in Black/Yellow wire between terminal No. 3 at instrument cluster harness connector C808B and brake fluid level sensor harness connector C810. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, inspect brake warning bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
