Test H: Seat Belt Warning Indicator Always On (Chime Operative)

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ensure seat belt is buckled. If seat belt chime is off and seat belt warning indicator is illuminated, go to next step. If seat belt chime is on and seat belt warning indicator is illuminated, repair chime module circuit. See WARNING SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If seat belt chime is off and seat belt warning indicator is not illuminated, system is okay.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box harness connector C362. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If seat belt warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If seat belt warning indicator illuminates, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 11 (Black/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. See Figure . If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Black/Blue wire.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect central junction box harness connector C362. Remove Central Timer Module (CTM) from back of central junction box. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If seat belt warning indicator illuminates, repair or replace central junction box. If seat belt warning indicator does not illuminate, replace CTM.
