Test A: Warning Lights & Gauges Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 30 (7.5-amp) from central junction box. Check fuse. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse blows again, go to step  4 .
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Violet wire.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808B. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808B. See Fig 2 . If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If any resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black or Black/Yellow wire.
  4. Ensure fuse No. 30 is still removed. Measure resistance between terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) and No. 4 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet wire.
