Test A: Warning Lights & Gauges Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove fuse No. 30 (7.5-amp) from central junction box. Check fuse. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse blows again, go to step 4
.
- Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. See Fig 1
. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Violet wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808B. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 7 (Black/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808B. See Fig 2
. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If any resistance reading is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black or Black/Yellow wire.
- Ensure fuse No. 30 is still removed. Measure resistance between terminal No. 14 (Violet wire) and No. 4 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet wire.
