Test N: Left Turn Indicator Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in left turn position. If left turn signals operate properly, go to next step. If left turn signals do not operate properly, repair turn signals as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If left turn indicator is on at all times, go to next step. If left turn indicator is not on at all time, go to step  5 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect multifunction switch harness connector C269. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 8 (Light Green/White wire) at multifunction switch harness connector C269. See Fig 1 . If voltage is greater than 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 5 volts or less, replace multifunction switch.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C250. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 8 (Light Green/White wire) at multifunction switch harness connector C269. If voltage is greater than 5 volts, repair short to voltage in Light Green/White wire. If voltage is 5 volts or less, replace instrument cluster printed circuit.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C250. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in left turn position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 3 (Light Green/White wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C250. See Figure . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step  7 .
  6. Check continuity across left turn indicator bulb. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb.
  7. Disconnect multifunction switch harness connector C269. Measure resistance in Light Green/White wire between terminal No. 3 at instrument cluster harness connector C250 and terminal No. 8 at multifunction switch harness connector C269. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 3 ohms or less, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is greater than 3 ohms, repair open in Light Green/White wire.
