Test K: Low Fuel Light Never/Always On
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to terminal No. 7 (Yellow/White wire, Orange/Light Green wire on flex fuel vehicles) at instrument cluster harness connector C250 (with harness connector connected). Set tester to 56 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, wait 60 seconds. If low fuel warning light is not on, leave tester connected and go to next step. If low fuel warning light is on, replace low fuel level warning switch and fuel gauge.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Change tester setting to 25 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, wait 60 seconds. If low fuel warning light is not on and fuel gauge does not read 16th of a tank, go to next step. If low fuel warning light is on and fuel gauge reads 16th of a tank, low fuel warning system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 7 (Yellow/White wire, Orange/Light Green wire on flex fuel vehicles) at instrument cluster harness connector C250 (with harness connector connected). If low fuel level light is not on, go to next step. If low fuel level light is on, replace low fuel level warning switch and fuel gauge.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove and inspect low fuel level indicator bulb. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If bulb is not okay, replace bulb.
