Test T: Charge Warning Never On
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect generator harness connector C1885A. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a fused jumper wire, ground terminal No. 1 (Green/Black wire) at generator harness connector C1885A. If charge warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If charge warning indicator illuminates, repair charging system concern. See appropriate GENERATORS article in CHARGING & STARTING SYSTEMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C808A. Measure resistance in Green/Black wire between terminal No. 1 at generator harness connector C1885A and terminal No. 7 at instrument cluster harness connector C808A. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, inspect charge warning indicator bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Green/Black wire.
