High Beam Indicator Never/Always On
- Turn ignition to RUN position. Turn headlights on. Turn multi-function switch to high beam lights on position. If high beam headlights are on, go to next step. If high beam headlights are not on, see appropriate HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
- Turn headlights off. Turn ignition to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250. See Figure
- Figure
. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 2 (Gray/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 5 volts, repair short to voltage in Gray/White wire and retest system.
- Turn ignition to OFF position. Disconnect Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module. DRL module is located on left side of lower radiator core support below left headlight. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 2 (Gray/White wire). If voltage is more than 5 volts and vehicle is not equipped with DRL, repair short to voltage in Gray/White wire and retest system. If voltage is more than 5 volts and vehicle is equipped with DRL, go to next step. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace DRL and retest system.
- Turn ignition to OFF position. Disconnect fuse panel connector C225. C225 is the Black 22-pin connector on left side of fuse panel. Measure resistance of Gray/White wire between fuse panel connector C225 terminal No. 18 and instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 2. See Fig 1
. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 3 ohms or more, repair open in Gray/White wire.
- Disconnect both high beam headlights. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 2. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair circuit No. 932 (Gray/White wire) for short to ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
- Check for continuity across high beam indicator bulb. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb and retest system.
