Right Turn Indicator

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in right turn position. If outside right turn signal operates, go to next step. If outside right turn signal does not operate properly, see appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If right turn indicator is not on at all times, go to step 5). If right turn indicator is on at all times, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and multifunction switch connector C241 circuit No. 5 (White/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1 . If voltage is 5 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace multifunction switch and retest system.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C251. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and multifunction switch connector C241 circuit No. 5 (White/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1 . If voltage is 5 volts or more, repair short to voltage in White/Light Blue wire between instrument cluster connector C251 and voltage. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C251. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in right turn position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C251 terminal No. 16 (White/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Figure . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  6. Check for continuity across right turn indicator bulb. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest system. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb and retest system.
  7. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Measure resistance of between White/Light Blue wire between instrument cluster connector C251 terminal No. 16 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 5. See Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 3 ohms, replace multifunction switch and retest system. If resistance is 3 ohms or more, repair open in White/Light Blue wire.
