Left Turn Indicator

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in left turn position. If outside left turn signal operates, go to next step. If outside left turn signal does not operate properly, see appropriate EXTERIOR LIGHTS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If left turn indicator is not on at all times, go to step 5). If left turn indicator is on at all times, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and multifunction switch connector C241 circuit No. 9 (Light Green/White wire). See Figure . If voltage is 5 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace multifunction switch and retest system.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250. Turn ignition to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and multifunction switch connector C241 circuit No. 9 (Light Green/White wire). See Figure . If voltage is 5 volts or more, repair short to voltage in Light Green/White wire between instrument cluster connector C250 and voltage. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250. Turn ignition to RUN position. Place multifunction switch in left turn position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 1 (Light Green/White wire). See Figure and Figure . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 7). If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  6. Check for continuity across left turn indicator bulb. If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest system. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb and retest system.
  7. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Measure resistance of between Light Green/White wire between instrument cluster connector C250 terminal No. 1 and multifunction switch connector circuit No. 9. See Figure . If resistance is less than 3 ohms, replace multifunction switch and retest system. If resistance is 3 ohms or more, repair open in Light Green/White wire.
