Safety Belt Warning Never/Always On
- Ensure driver safety belt is unbuckled. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and warning chime module connector C220 terminal No. 2 (Brown/Light Blue wire). Warning chime module is located behind center of instrument panel, to right of radio. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Light Blue wire between seat belt switch and warning chime module.
- Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and warning chime module connector C220 terminal No. 10 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Turn ignition on. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace warning chime module.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C251. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C251 terminal No. 15 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Turn ignition on. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 5). If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C251 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace safety belt warning indicator bulb. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect warning chime module. Measure resistance of Dark Green/Light Green wire between warning chime module connector C220 terminal No. 10 and instrument cluster harness connector C251 terminal No. 15. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace safety belt warning indicator bulb. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Light Green wire.
