High Beam Indicator Never/Always On - With Daytime Running
LIGHTS
- Turn headlights on. Turn multifunction switch to high beam lights on position. If high beam indicator light is never on, go to step 7). If high beam indicator light is always on, go to next step.
- Disconnect parking brake switch connector. If headlights go to reduced intensity, replace park brake switch and retest system. If headlights do not go to reduced intensity, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module. DRL module is located on left side of lower radiator core support, below horns. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and DRL module connector C170 terminal No. 2 (Purple/Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage is present, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Measure voltage at output side of fuse No. 1 (15-amp) in instrument fuse panel (Purple/Orange wire). If battery voltage is present, repair open in Purple/Orange wire between instrument fuse panel and DRL module. Retest system. If battery voltage is not present, replace fuse and retest system.
- Measure voltage between ground and DRL module connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue/Black wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire between engine compartment fuse box and DRL module. Retest system.
- Measure voltage between ground and DRL module connector terminal No. 7 (Red/Black wire). If battery voltage is present, repair short to battery in Red/Black wire between multifunction switch and DRL module. Retest system. If battery voltage is not present, replace DRL module and retest system.
- Turn headlights off. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity across high beam indicator bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb and retest system.
- Turn headlights on. Turn multifunction switch to high beam lights on position. Measure voltage between ground and DRL module connector terminal No. 1 (Gray/White wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage is present, repair open in Gray/White wire between instrument cluster and DRL module. Retest system. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between DRL module terminals No. 8 (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 1 (Gray/White wire). If high beam indicator light illuminated, replace DRL and retest system. If high beam indicator light did not illuminate, repair open in Light Green/Black wire between and test multifunction switch.
