Description & Operation
Instrument cluster contains a speedometer/tachometer assembly, fuel gauge/temperature gauge assembly and oil pressure gauge/voltmeter assembly. Odometer and trip odometer are mounted at the bottom of speedometer and tachometer respectively. Warning lights are placed in line below speedometer and tachometer gauges. Turn signal and high beam indicators are mounted in top center of instrument cluster. See Fig 1 .
Instrument cluster gauge amplifier is designed to light low fuel warning light momentarily for function proof when ignition is turned on. Instrument cluster gauge amplifier is part of low fuel level warning/anti-slosh module and provides delay in fuel gauge to prevent fluctuation in fuel gauge pointer as a result of fuel movement in tank. The module is a small printed circuit board which latches into a pocket on back of instrument cluster. Fuel gauge and instrument cluster gauge amplifier module are calibrated together and must be replaced as a single unit. There are no provisions for calibration or adjustment of low fuel level warning/anti-slosh module.
When ignition switch is turned to ON position, the following warning indicators will light momentarily for function proof:
- ABS
- Air Bag
- Brake System
- Charging System
- Low Coolant
- Low Oil (If Equipped)
- MIL (CHECK ENGINE)
- Safety Belt
