Front Cover: Removal

NOTE: Manufacturer recommends removing engine for servicing front cover.

Remove engine. See ENGINE . Remove water pump. Remove vibration damper bolt and washer. Using puller, remove vibration damper.
NOTE: If necessary to remove high-pressure oil pump or high-pressure oil pump reservoir, see HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP and HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR .
Drain engine oil. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN . Remove oil pump pick-up tube. Remove front cover retaining bolts. See Figure. Remove front cover and gaskets.
