Seat Belt Warning Indicator Inoperative (Chime Operative)
- Turn ignition on. If seat belt chime and seat belt warning indicator are operative, system is okay. If seat belt chime and seat belt warning indicator are both inoperative, repair chime module circuit. See appropriate WARNING SYSTEMS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section. If seat belt chime is operational and seat belt warning indicator is inoperative, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block 4-pin connector C362. See Figure . Junction block is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire between ground and junction block 4-pin connector C362 (Black/Blue wire). If seat belt warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If seat belt warning indicator illuminates, go to step 4).
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between junction block 4-pin connector C362 and instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 6. See Figure -5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check seat belt warning indicator bulb in cluster and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Blue wire.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect junction block 20-pin connector C23. See Figure . Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between junction block 20-pin connector C23 terminal No. 10 and junction block 4-pin connector C362. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace Central Timer Module (CTM). CTM is plugged into junction block 20-pin connector C23. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace junction block.
