Oil Pressure Warning Always On

  1. Start engine and allow to idle. If instrument cluster oil pressure warning indicator is on, go to next step. If instrument cluster oil pressure warning indicator is off, system is okay.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Turn ignition on. If instrument cluster oil pressure warning indicator is on, go to next step. If instrument cluster oil pressure warning indicator is off, verify oil pressure with mechanical gauge. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector. If oil pressure is okay, replace oil pressure switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance between ground and oil pressure switch connector terminal (Black/Green wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Green wire.
