Low Coolant Indicator Always On
- Turn ignition off. Ensure coolant reservoir is full. Turn ignition on. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates for about 5 seconds and turns off, system is okay. If low engine coolant level indicator stays illuminated. go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect low engine coolant level switch. Low engine coolant level switch is located in coolant reservoir on right side of engine compartment. Turn ignition on. If low engine coolant level indicator illuminates for about 5 seconds and turns off, replace low engine coolant level switch. If low engine coolant level indicator does not illuminate for about 5 seconds and turn off, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument interface module. Instrument interface module is located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and instrument interface module connector terminal No. 12 (White/Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Green wire.
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C1. See Figure , Figure and Figure . Measure resistance between ground and instrument interface module connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Yellow wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, inspect instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If instrument cluster printed circuit is okay, replace instrument interface module. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire.
