Brake Warning Inoperative
- Turn ignition on. Pull parking brake lever on. If brake warning light is on, system is okay. If brake warning light is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect brake fluid level sensor connector. Connect a jumper wire between Black wire and Black/Yellow wire terminal of brake fluid level sensor connector. If brake warning light is on, remove jumper wire. Check parking brake switch adjustment and adjust or replace as necessary. If parking brake switch is okay, repair open Black/Red wire between park brake switch connector and splice S308. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If brake warning light is not on, remove jumper wire and go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and brake fluid level sensor connector terminal (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. See Figure and Figure . Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 8 and brake fluid level sensor connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, inspect brake warning bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Yellow wire.
