Test C1445: Vehicle Speed Signal Circuit Failure

  1. Check Signal

Drive vehicle while observing speedometer. If speedometer is displaying correct speed, go to next step. if speedometer is not displaying correct speed, see appropriate SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  2. Confirm VSS Signal Acceptance

Connect NGS tester. Enter diagnostic modes,PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD. Monitor vehicle speed signal using PID VSS_SRC. If NGS tester reading is the same as the speedometer, problem is intermittent. Perform wiggle test. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  . If NGS tester reading is not the same as the speedometer, go to next step.
  3. Check Circuits

Disconnect SARC module. Disconnect ABS module. Check continuity between SARC module connector 450 pin No. 2 (Pink/Orange) and ABS module connector 1057 pin No. 1 (Black/White). See Figure . If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair circuits. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  .
  4. Check Circuit 679 (Gray/Black)

Check continuity between SARC module connector 450 pin No. 3 (Gray/Black) and ABS module connector 1057 pin No. 12 (Gray/Black). See Figure . If resistance is 3 ohms or less, replace SARC module. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair circuit 679 (Gray/Black). Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  .
