Test B: Height Sensor Circuit Failure

  1. Check Sensor Connections

    Disconnect and inspect height sensor connectors for corrosion, damaged pins or wiring. Repair or replace as necessary. Go to next step.
  2. Check Circuit Resistance

    Disconnect SARC module connectors. Disconnect suspect height sensor connector. Check resistance of circuits 423 (Purple/Light Green), 425 (Brown/Black), 427 (Pink/Black), 428 (Orange/Black), between SARC connectors and suspect sensor connector. See Figure . If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair circuit and repeat self test. If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step.
  3. Check Resistance-Circuit 426 (Red/Black)

    Disconnect suspect height sensor connector. Check resistance of circuit 426 (Red/Black) between SARC connector and suspect sensor connector. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair circuit. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  . If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step.
  4. Check Short To Ground-Circuit 426 (Red/Black)

    Check resistance between circuit 426 (Red/Black) at sensor connector and ground. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  . If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step.
  5. Check Circuit 430 (Gray) Short To Ground

    Disconnect suspect height sensor connector. Check resistance between circuit 430 (Gray) at sensor connector and ground. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  . If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step.
  6. Check For Short Between Circuit 430 (Gray) And Circuit 426

    MD11(Red/Black) Disconnect suspect height sensor. Check resistance between circuit 430 (Gray) and circuit 426 (Red/Black) at sensor connector. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short between circuits. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  . If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step.
  7. Check Circuit 430 (Gray) Resistance

    Disconnect suspect height sensor. Check resistance of circuit 430 (Gray) between SARC connector and suspect sensor connector. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair circuit and repeat self test. If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step.
  8. Check Sensor Supply Voltage

    Reconnect SARC module. Disconnect suspect sensor connector. Using NGS tester, turn on sensor power using ACTIVE COMMAND MODE test, SUSPENSION DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL, HT SENSOR POWER: ON. Check voltage between circuit 430 (Gray) and circuit 426 (Red/Black) at sensor connector. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.8-5.2 volts, replace SARC module. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  .
  9. Check Sensor Voltage Range

    Reconnect suspect sensor. Using NGS tester, turn on sensor power using ACTIVE COMMAND MODE test, SUSPENSION DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL, HT SENSOR POWER: ON. Backprobing SARC module, check voltage between circuit 430 (Gray) and circuits 423 (Purple/Light Green), 425 (Brown/Black), 427 (Pink/Black), 428 (Orange/Black) while moving sensor through range. If voltage ranges from .5-4.5 volts when sensor is moved from minimum to maximum, go to next step. If voltage is not within range or drops off when sensor is moved, replace sensor. Repeat self test. See SELF TEST  .
  10. Check Sensor Values

    Reconnect suspect sensor. Using NGS tester, turn on sensor power using ACTIVE COMMAND MODE test, SUSPENSION DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL, HT SENSOR POWER: ON. Check analog sensor signal with PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD, LF_HGT, RF_HGT, LR_HGT, RR_HGT while moving sensor from minimum to maximum. If PID valve changes when sensor is moved, problem is intermittent. Perform wiggle test. Rerun self test. If PID valve does not change when sensor is moved, replace SARC module. Rerun self test.
