Escort & Tracer

  1. Clean exterior of rack housing. Mount steering gear in soft-jawed vise. Loosen yoke locking nut. Using Yoke Adjustment Adapter (T90P-3504-JH), tighten yoke adjusting bolt in locking nut to 35 INCH lbs (4 N.m). See Figure. Loosen yoke adjusting bolt 10-40 degrees.
  2. Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench and Pinion Torque Adapter (T86P-3504-K), measure pinion shaft rotation torque. See PINION SHAFT ROTATION TORQUE . If rotation torque is not within specification, adjust yoke adjusting bolt as necessary.
