Test K: Moon Roof Will Not Slide Open Or Close From Vent Position (Cougar & THUNDERBIRD)

  1. Check Moon Roof Switch Input  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect White moon roof control module connector. Connect ohmmeter between Brown/Orange wire pin on moon roof control module and White/Red wire pin on moon roof control module. Toggle SLIDE switch to close position and check continuity. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, go to step 4. If resistance is more than 100 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Gray switch connector. Check voltage at Gray/Black wire terminal of connector. If voltage exists, repair short in White/Red or Gray/Black wire to power. If voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Check continuity of wire between Gray switch connector (Gray/Black wire terminal) and White moon roof control module connector (White/Red wire terminal). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace moon roof switch.
  4. Reconnect White moon roof control module connector. Disconnect Brown moon roof motor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at Brown moon roof motor connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire), No. 2 (White wire) and No. 3 (Red wire). If voltage does not exist on any terminal, replace moon roof control module. If voltage exists on all terminals, replace moon roof motor.
