Test G: Moon Roof Does Not Stop Flush In Any Position (Cougar & THUNDERBIRD)
- Check Black Wire Circuit - Turn ignition off. Disconnect Brown moon roof motor connector.Turn ignition on. Check voltage at Black wire terminal of Brown moon roof motor connector. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to step 4). If voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect White moon roof module connector. Check resistance between Black wire terminal of Brown moon roof motor connector and ground. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, repair Black wire. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms go to next step.
- Check resistance between Black wire terminal of Brown moon roof motor connector and Black wire terminal of White moon roof module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace moon roof module. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire.
- Check Moon Roof Motor Limit Switch - Reconnect Brown moon roof motor connector. Turn ignition on. Backprobe Black wire at Brown moon roof motor connector with voltmeter while closing moon roof. If voltage changes from zero to 5 volts as moon roof reaches flush position, go to step 6. If voltage does not change, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Brown moon roof motor connector. Check resistance between Black/White wire terminal of Brown moon roof motor connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace moon roof motor. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black/White wire.
- Reconnect Brown moon roof motor connector. Turn ignition on. Open moon roof. Backprobe Black wire at Brown moon roof motor connector with voltmeter while closing moon roof. If moon roof motor stops when voltage changes from zero to 5 volts as moon roof reaches flush position, moon roof is operating normally. If motor stops when moon roof is not flush, adjust moon roof or synchronize motor. See ADJUSTMENTS. If motor does not stop, replace moon roof control module and retest.
