Removal & Installation

  1. Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Wait at least one minute for air bag back-up power supply to deplete.
  2. Remove air bag module retaining nuts/screws. Lift air bag module from steering wheel. Disconnect air bag wiring harness from module. Disconnect cruise control switch connector (if equipped). Remove and discard steering wheel bolt.
  3. Remove steering wheel. While removing steering wheel, guide wiring harnesses through steering wheel. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW steering wheel bolt and tighten to specification. Check AIR BAG light to verify proper system operation.
