Removal & Installation (Mark VIII)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Mark and remove tie rod ends from wheel knuckles. Remove engine oil filter.
  2. Disconnect and plug power steering return hose at intermediate fitting. Disconnect power steering pressure hose at intermediate fitting and position out of way. Remove steering shaft bolt.
    NOTE: Retaining bolts stay with rack.
  3. Working through access holes in subframe, remove nuts from rack-to-sub-frame bolts. Retaining top of rack forward, remove rack from subframe. To install reservoir, reverse removal procedure. Refill reservoir and check for leaks.
