Removal (Mustang)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Raise vehicle on hoist. Remove bolts from flexible coupling to input shaft. Remove 2 tie rod end cotter pins and nuts. Using Tie Rod End Remover (T00L-3290-D), separate tie rod ends from spindle arms.
  2. Remove 2 nuts, insulator washers and bolts which retain steering gear to No. 2 crossmember. Remove front rubber insulators. Position drain pan under steering gear. Disconnect and plug hydraulic lines. Remove steering gear.
