Oil Pressure Warning Never/Always On

  1. Verify oil pressure with mechanical gauge. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector.
  2. Measure resistance between terminal of pressure sensor and ground with engine off, and running. With engine running, resistance should be 10 k/ohms and less than 5 ohms with engine off. If resistances are correct, go to next step. If resistances are not correct, replace oil pressure sensor and retest.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove low oil pressure warning light miniature bulb. Check continuity between terminals of low oil pressure indicator miniature bulb. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace bulb.
  4. Disconnect cluster connector C2. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector. Measure resistance between cluster connector C2, pin No. 1 and oil pressure sensor connector. Measure resistance between cluster connector C2, pin No. 1 and ground. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and oil pressure sensor, and greater than 10 k/ohms between instrument cluster and ground, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not as specified, repair Black/Green wire between pressure sender and instrument cluster. Retest system.
