Rear Brake Caliper: Reassembly

  1. Use clean brake fluid to lubricate components during installation. Install new seal on adjusting spindle and position in caliper. Install adjuster springs and cupped washer on spindle. Apply pressure to cupped washer, and install parking brake lever and cam. Ensure brake lever and cam are lubricated with high-temperature grease.
  2. Install dust boot on parking brake lever and secure with strap. Install plastic cover over dust boot. Lubricate guide pin, seals and bushings with high-temperature grease, and install seals and guide pin into caliper. Loosely install bleeder screw. Position piston seal in caliper bore, and install dust boot on piston. Install dust cover on piston and adjuster.
  3. Using Rear Caliper Adjuster (T87P-2588-A), turn piston clockwise to install piston. Lubricate inside of dust cover with high-temperature grease, and position dust cover in caliper. To complete assembly, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brakes. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
