All Warning Indicators Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and load side of fuse No. 18 (Aerostar) or fuse No. 11 (Ranger) located in instrument panel fuse panel. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 3). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and feed side of fuse No. 18 (Aerostar) or fuse No. 11 (Ranger) located in instrument panel fuse panel. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace fuse and retest system. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring to fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Partially remove instrument cluster leaving connectors connected. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. On Aerostar, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connectors C250, terminal No. 12 and C251, terminal No. 13 (all Red/Yellow wires). See Figure . On Ranger, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connectors C214, terminal No. 13, C215, terminal No. 8 and C216, terminal No. 1 (all Red/Yellow wires). See Figure , Figure and Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in appropriate Red/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition off. On Aerostar, measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C250, terminals No. 5, 7 and 8 (all Black wires) and terminals No. 13 and 14 (both Black/White wires). Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C251, terminal No. 9 (Black/White wire). See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C249, terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire). See Figure .
  5. On Ranger, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connectors C214, terminal No. 7 (Black wire), C215, terminals No. 2 (Black/White wire) and 7 (Black wire) and C216, terminal No. 8 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure , Figure and Figure . On all models, if resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster (Aerostar) or replace instrument cluster printed circuit (Ranger). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate ground wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
