Fuel Gauge Inaccurate Or Inoperative

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove fuel indicator module from rear of instrument cluster. Using fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to "+" terminal on gauge. Connect "-" terminal on gauge to ground.
  2. Connect one lead of Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to "F" terminal on gauge. Connect other tester lead to "-" terminal on gauge.
  3. Set tester to resistance specified in the FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE  table. If fuel gauge indicates as specified, go to appropriate PINPOINT TEST for further diagnosis. See PINPOINT TEST INDEX TABLE  . Replace fuel gauge if it does not indicate as specified.
