Test Z - Liftgate Ajar Warning Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect liftgate latch switch connector. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between latch switch connector and ground with door open and closed. If resistance is less than 5 ohms open and more than 10 k/ohms closed, go to next step. If resistances are not to specification, replace liftgate switch and retest system.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check continuity across terminals of liftgate ajar indicator bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity is not present, replace bulb and retest system.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C249 on vehicles without tachometer (C252 with tachometer). Disconnect liftgate latch switch connector. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between liftgate switch connector and cluster connector. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between liftgate switch connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between switch and cluster and more than 10 k/ohms between switch and ground, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest system. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not to specification, repair short or open in Red/Yellow wire and retest system.
