Test K - Speedometer/Odometer Inoperative

  1. Check connection between speedometer cable and speedometer. Check connection between speedometer cable and transaxle. If connections are in satisfactory condition, go to next step. If connections are not satisfactory, repair as required and retest system.
  2. Disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle. Remove speedometer gear from transaxle. Spin and inspect speedometer gear. If any teeth are broken or if gear is binding, replace speedometer gear and retest system. If gear is okay, go to next step.
  3. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Spin speedometer head counterclockwise. If speedometer needle moves while spinning speedometer head, replace speedometer cable and retest system. If needle does not move while spinning speedometer head, replace speedometer and retest system.
