Test V - High Beam Warning Never/Always On

Turn headlights on. Operate high beams. If high beams operate properly, go to next step. If high beams do not operate properly, see appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove high beam indicator bulb. Test continuity of indicator bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity is not present, replace bulb and retest system.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C251 for vehicles without tachometer (C253 with tachometer). Turn headlights on with high beams on. Measure voltage of Red/White wire (without DRL) or Green wire (with DRL) at cluster connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in affected wire and retest system.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C251 for vehicles without tachometer (C253 with tachometer). Measure resistance of Black wire (connector C251, pin No. 11, or connector C253, pin No. 7) between cluster connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest system. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire and retest system.
