Oil Pressure Warning Never/Always On

  1. Verify oil pressure with mechanical gauge. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector.
  2. Measure resistance between terminal of pressure sensor and ground with engine off, and running. Running resistance should be 10 k/ohms and engine off should be less than 5 ohms. If resistances are correct, go to next step. If resistances are not correct, replace oil pressure sensor and retest.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove low oil pressure warning light miniature bulb. Check continuity between terminals of low oil pressure indicator miniature bulb. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace bulb.
  4. Disconnect cluster connector C2. Disconnect oil pressure sensor connector. Measure resistance between cluster connector C2, pin No. 1 and oil pressure sensor connector. Measure resistance between cluster connector C2, pin No. 1 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and oil pressure sensor, and greater than 10 k/ohms between instrument cluster and ground, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance values are different, repair circuit No. 31S (Black/Green wire) for open or short in circuit and retest system.
