CD4E & 4EAT (Probe)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove floor console. Shift gear shift lever to PARK position on 4EAT and DRIVE on CD4E. Remove position indicator mounting screws and position indicator. Slide lock cover back. See Fig 1.
  2. Disconnect set button. Slide gear shift lever to adjust position. Connect set button. Slide lock cover to lock set button in place. Install position indicator. Install floor console. Reconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Check for PARK engagement. Start engine and ensure that transmission shifts through all gears properly. Verify that vehicle only starts in PARK and NEUTRAL and that backup light work. If not, check transmission range sensor adjustment. See TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) SENSOR/SWITCH .
