Automatic Transmission - Overhaul - 4R44E & 4R55E Automatic Transmission: Identification

The 4R44E/4R55E 4-speed automatic transmission can be identified by service identification tags affixed to unit. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Bar code identification label is located on fluid pan. Metal tag is attached to extension housing bolt. Top line of tag shows transmission model number and line shift code. Bottom line on tag shows build date code.
