Wheel Bearing Adjustment
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel cover and grease cap. Remove cotter pin and retainer. Loosen adjusting nut 3 turns. Back off disc brake pads to obtain running clearance between rotor and pads.
- While rotating wheel assembly, tighten adjusting nut to 17-25 ft. lbs. (23-34 N.m) to seat bearing. Loosen adjusting nut 1/2 turn (180 degrees). Retighten to 18-20 INCH lbs. (2.0-2.3 N.m).
- Align retainer with cotter pin hole and place on adjusting nut. Install cotter pin. Install grease cap and wheel cover. Before driving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to restore normal pedal position.
