Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Using Spring Lock Coupling Remover (T81P-19623-G1) for 3/8" line or (T81P-19623-G2) for 1/2" line, disconnect fuel supply and return lines. See Figure.
- Remove radiator grill and inside engine cover. Remove air cleaner outlet tube. Disconnect and remove A/C condenser, plug openings. Drain cooling system and engine oil. Remove upper and lower radiator hoses. Disconnect power steering return hose. Remove front bumper. Remove transmission cooler.
- Remove radiator and fan shroud. Remove accessory drive belt. Remove radiator air deflector. Mark hood hinges and remove hood and center hood latch support. Remove alternator. Remove A/C compressor and plug openings. Remove oil filler pipe. Disconnect control cables from throttle body.
- Remove power steering pump. Remove A/C and power steering pump mounting bracket. Remove transmission dipstick tube. Remove oil dipstick tube. Disconnect dual converter "Y" pipe from exhaust manifolds. Remove starter. Remove transmission oil cooler line bracket bolt.
- Remove torque converter-to-flexplate bolts. Remove engine mount-to-frame bolts. Remove transmission-to-engine bolts. Remove front engine mount. Disconnect transmission wiring harness connectors. Disconnect necessary water and vacuum connections.
- Disconnect necessary wiring harness and ground connections. Remove ignition coil with bracket attached. Remove upper intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLDS . Attach engine hoist and remove engine from vehicle.
