Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

NOTE: It is necessary to remove oil pan to properly reseal timing chain cover. It is necessary to remove transmission to remove oil pan.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove radiator. Remove oil pump. See OIL PUMP . Remove camshaft position sensor. Remove camshaft position sensor synchronizer assembly. See CMP SYNCHRONIZER . Remove lifters. See VALVE LIFTERS . Remove timing chain. See TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS . Remove camshaft thrust plate. Remove camshaft.
