Port Air & Split Air Check Valves

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Mazda RX-7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Operate engine at idle. Disconnect hose between air pump and air control valve. Ensure exhaust gas is not leaking from port air check valve. If exhaust gas is leaking, replace air control valve.
  2. Disconnect hose from split air check valve. Increase engine speed to 2000 RPM and verify exhaust gas is not leaking from split air check valve. If valve is not working correctly, replace split air check valve.
