Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

  1. Disable fuel injectors. Remove distributor (leave electrical connectors plugged-in). Connect analog voltmeter (or oscilloscope) negative lead to distributor ground (distributor body or Black wire terminal). With positive voltmeter lead, backprobe Yellow/White wire (White wire on A/T). Rotate distributor shaft. Voltmeter should indicate one voltage pulse (5 volts) per revolution.
  2. Move positive voltmeter lead to Orange wire (Red wire on A/T). Rotate distributor shaft. Voltmeter should indicate 4 voltage pulses (5 volts) per revolution. Replace distributor if necessary.
