Millenia S 2.3L

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Mazda Millenia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove CMP sensor (leave electrical connector plugged-in). Using analog voltmeter (or oscilloscope), connect negative lead to CMP sensor ground (CMP body or Black/Red wire). With positive voltmeter lead, backprobe Blue/Red wire at CMP connector. Turn ignition on and rotate CMP shaft. Voltmeter should indicate one voltage pulse (5 volts) per revolution. Replace CMP sensor if necessary.
